Have you ever been in a situation where you have to expel gas while inside a crowded elevator? Nothing serious about it, but it can be downright embarrassing. Gas is produced when food is not digested properly and ferment in the intestines. Having excessive intestinal gas can be bothersome and may cause abdominal pains if not expelled.
An effective treatment for gas and gas pains is ginger. Since ancient times, ginger has been used to treat various ailment concerning the digestive tract. Researchers have thoroughly investigated and documented its benefits in relieving both constipation and diarrhea.
Besides ginseng and garlic, ginger is one of the most thoroughly studied plants in the whole world. It helps normalize the digestive process, promotes the growth of friendly bacteria called Lactobacillus, and fights against E.coli and salmonella, bacteria that can cause food poisoning.
Since everyone gets gas, here are a few measures to relieve discomfort and reduce gas production:
- Chew a small slice of ginger root.
- Make a ginger ale or ginger tea by pouring a cup of boiling water over ½ teaspoon of ginger root.
- Eat ginger candies.
- Swallow a 100mg of ginger extract in capsule form.
